This Makes No Sense...

Sixty years ago the Enola Gay flew over Hiroshima, Japan and dropped the first atomic bomb to be used as a weapon. I just realized this five minutes ago. An astounding 140,000 people, mostly innocent civilians, died at the hands of the American military. Why no talk of the ultimate weapon of mass destruction? Why no moment of silence? Why no American representative in Hiroshima bowing his head in remembrance of those who died?

I think the government understands that the current war in which we invaded a country based on our desire to eliminate their possession of weapons of mass destruction exposes a great hypocrisy in our military history. We create weapons only to use them as a threat against other nations from having those same weapons (unless we like you, in which case we'll sell the weapons to you).

This makes no sense. The constant struggle for military power seems to be controlling our interests, our pocketbooks, and our politicians. Human nature seems to be driving this concept. We do not have the self restraint to willingly allow another entity to have control over us. We strive to be better than the "other guy".

It's a shame, really, that current American policy has allowed us to dehumanize ourselves into forgetting about 140,000 people who died at the hand of a weapon that we created to use against them... not to mention the fact that we are now invading other countries to keep anyone else from having this same weapon.

This makes no sense.
