Admit the wrongs, change the course, and move forward...

I sent this link to someone... http://www.time.com/time/columnist/klein/article/0,9565,1531272,00.html?cnn=yes
They responded with a slam on the author...
This was my response...

That's fine. Keep thinking like the rest of the war supporters... how does it go again? "Time will prove this war to be justified and necessary to peace in the Middle East and a victory in the war on terror." Something like that? Three and a half years and counting and that part of the world is just as terrifyingly unsafe and the terrorists are still born by thousands every day with no end in sight. Actually, one could easily argue more and more people live in more and more fear than ever under Saddam. Yes, three and a half years with car bombs and IED's galore. Remember, most people who die over there now are just guys going to the market to get some bread and water, not the next Muqtada al-Sadr.

So, if yesterday and the day before and the day before's events occur 5 years from now, should we still have 130,000 troops there and a billion dollars of our money a week along with them? What about 10 years from now? 20? When do you say enough is enough? When "it's done"? When is that? What if 20 years from now "it" still isn't "done"? All that money going 6,000 miles away to kill people and your half of the country complains about taxes! Blasphemous! The first war in American history with no tax increase. Pure Republican politics playing the public (score 1 for alliteration, 0 the American taxpayer).

And I love your agruement, by the way. No facts, no analysis, not even one single reference to what he said. Just foul language and offensive slang and another old and tired reference to Jane Fonda. When will yall let that lady go? Thirty years and you seem to think it is a legitimate counter to every anti-war arguement. You can do better (remove tongue from cheek).

So, continue to "educate" yourself with your own set of producers with their own initiatives - authors and old military buddies included. How can you form an intellectual opinion about anything unless you hear the other side consistantly give it's pitch? I watch Faux News almost every day. I don't agree with them, but if I don't clearly hear their side and give it thought, I can't have a well balanced thought process on the issue.

But you old-timers are just like the movies portray you... stuck in your ways, stubborn, and usually ignorant of the complete issue. All of those books, all of that thirst for knowledge you have and it is spent supporting what you think to be true as opposed to informing you on a debate and letting the thought process take control.

I guess that way of thinking comes tucked in the envelopes with the social security checks, no?

And if Mr. Klein keeps "trying to flush himself down the crapper," why does 60% of America believe him? Is 60% of the public wrong? And if you think the majority of the public doesn't have it right, then should Kerry have won the election? If 60% can be wrong about the war, can't 52% be wrong about an election? Or do you want to have your cake and eat it? Likeing majoritys for things like elections, but not about wars? If the American public is just plain stupid, why don't we have a dictator to do everything for us?

Typical.

Another terrorist attack will happen here. The Republicans will try to spin it so that they need more support and patriotic this and that and God bless such-and-such... But the reality will be that we are losing the war and we got hit again and that talk is cheap. Talk is cheap. Prove it to me. Give me one day where 20 Iraqis don't get blown to pieces. Give me one day where a country doesn't hate us. Give me on day where I can think, "You know what, the world is pretty peaceful today." Isn't that the ultimate goal? People not dying at the hands of other people, especially us? And how exactly is 135,000 US soldiers in Iraq going to do that? I have yet to hear one single arguement support that us killing poeple keeps people from killing people, ESPECIALLY considering the mindset of an Islamic fundamentalist. Killing them is their victory. It's a dead end street for us. It is impossible for us to defeat a people by way of military option when they consider their own death a success.

Talk is cheap. The patriotic jibberish is just television showtime. It has nothing to do with the outcome of this nonsense. Literally. Non Sense. There is no sense to it. Killing these people makes no logical sense. You have to win over their minds. If you do not win the MINDS of these people, they will fight us for hundreds - HUNDREDS of years.

Do what Mr. Klein says, admit the wrongs, change the course, and move forward.

H!
